Roller Roof Blinds, Derby

Conservatory Type: White wood conservatory, painted dwarf wall, 5.5m x 6.5m, Solar glass roof

The Problem

Mr T considered pleated & pinoleum roof blinds to solve heat & glare issues, but quickly ruled them out on technical performance grounds. He already had side rollers fitted which only helped when the sun was low, not much use in spring & summer.

The Solution

Only roof roller blinds with the truly thermal Solar Energi fabric had the specification to guarantee significant temperature reduction in summer, & heat retention in winter. A fabric designed to combat Scandinavian winters, would certainly retain heat for cold days in Derby!

The next decision was whether to have individual roof blinds (1 per panel) or “double blinds” over the bell end triangles. Given the limited space on the facia, & the presence of side roller blinds, our surveyor advised individual blinds, nicely rebated into the 3” wooden roof beams, for a really smart appearance.

Pleated Blinds Derby

We have a very small and simple lean-to with a roof that is almost flat, very little slope. Your chap said Rollers would not fit given the limited space on the facia, Pinoleum would not deal with the intense heat (we are south facing and it gets extremely hot with the roof-line just above our heads) and pleated blinds were the only option, apart from Film.

We didn’t want film because you just look up and see yourself, which at our age is not a pretty sight and on dull days you cannot “roll” it back making it even more depressing. So we went for the pleated roof blinds and love them. They are tight to the roof and easy to operate with a 1 metre pole and a lovely Barley Crush colour. I must admit I find the blinds difficult to unclip, even with your sliding tensioner device, so was pleased to hear you do this annual cleaning out of flies and dust for a modest fee! As pensioners, every penny counts!

So glad we didn’t go for those “Perfect Fit” blinds. Our friend has just had some & although she is pleased, I tend to agree with you that the frame around every window is just too much. Each to their own I suppose.

Anyway we love your micro pleated blinds fitted into the window beading, they really are neat & operate so easily, packing away to nothing & with virtually invisible cords. Great job!
